To Refer a Patient
You may know someone whom you think might benefit from psychoanalysis – an adult, adolescent or child – but who cannot afford to pay for the treatment. You can tell the person, or the parents in the case of a child, about this website as a resource for finding out About Psychoanalysis and about low-fee treatment in The Psychoanalytic Clinic or The Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Clinic. Fees for adults are 60 dollars and considerably downwards in a sliding fee scale, according to income. If a person can afford a bit more than $60 per session, we can often arranged for sliding-fee scale fees within our membership of graduate analysts.
For the person to become a patient in one of the low-fee psychoanalytic clinics, he or she may download and fill out the application for psychoanalytic treatment as a clinic patient. (See Applying for Treatment where an application can be downloaded; or request that one be sent or faxed by calling The Western New England Institute for Psychoanalysis at 203.562.2103)
Many referrals are initiated by the patient or parents; a therapist or other person who knows the patient well might also be involved in the process. For example, if you are a mental health professional who has treated the patient, you might write a letter in support of the application.
For any questions about the process, you may call:Eric Millman, M.D. directly about the Adult Psychoanalytic Clinic at 203.432.0290
